LULOPLANET MISSION - INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES DAY

LULOPLANET MISSION - INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES DAY

Yesterday, the 9th of August the International Day of Indigenous Communities was celebrated.

Across entire Colombia you could see words of support towards them. In everyday life Indigenous Communities quite often struggle to live their life with dignity.

It's part of #luloplanet mission to make the life of some of them easier, spread the knowledge about their ancestral traditions and artisan techniques.

It is worth mentioning that Colombia is unique in the world due to their ethnic diversity. Native Colombians, are the ethnic groups who have been in Colombia before the Europeans arrival in the early 16th century.

They comprise of 3.4% of the country's population and belong to 87 (sic!) different tribes. They speak 64 native languages and 300 dialects, covering almost 30% of the country. Among them the Wayuu and Embera individual people with whom we are really proud to cooperate all the time, since the launch of our company not only on celebration days. Thank you for helping us preserve their culture.

Rdzenni mieszkańcy zamieszkiwali terytorium Kolumbii jeszcze przed przybyciem do Ameryki Południowej z początkiem XVI wieku Europejczyków.

Obecnie, stanowią 3,4% populacji Kolumbii i przynależą do 87 (sic!) różnych plemion. Używają 64 różnych języków i 300 dialektów. Zamieszkują blisko 30% kraju. Do nich należą także poszczególne osoby z plemion Wayuu i Embera, z którymi współpracujemy nie tylko od święta. Dziękujemy, że poprzez Wasze zakupy wspieracie naszą działalność.

PRESIDENT OF TVN FOUNDATION SUPPORTING WAYUU PEOPLE

We have recently spotted our favorite journalist, the President of  FUNDACJA TVN NIE JESTEŚ SAM  - Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska wearing #mochila #wayuu during her trip to Miami. We are more than happy to see the media representatives involved in a good cause to support Wayuu Indigenous communities of Colombia and Venezuela within fairtrade and slow fashion philosophy, which also are the core of #luloplanet social enterprise activity.

New! GUAJIRA Collection in your hands

New! GUAJIRA Collection in your hands

As you have probably seen in the last couple of days we have launched our new collection. We have spent several days within our small team brainstorming on how to call it.
We have finally opted in for the simplest and we believe the most impactful solution. We decided to call it just ... GUAJIRA. Why? The recent collection comes strictly from the sacred land of Wayuu people placed on the caribbean coast of Colombia - numerous Indigenous Women from various communities spent hours on hand crochetting and hand weaving these one of a kind mochilas in differents shapes, patterns, colors and sizes depending on their mood and observation of their surroundings.
Each bag has the name of small community located precisely in the Guajira region of Colombia. The original names in their majority come from Indigenous mothertongue called Wayuunaiki
We manage socialy responsible company and one of our goals is to EMPOWER WOMEN. We are proud and happy that thanks to our continuous efforts and talent of Wayuu Women their various families are able to live with dignity. We provide them the basics - pottable water, which seems unbelievable for us, but truly is a luxury in some areas of this region, food and school supplies.
Thank you for buying #luloplanet products. You have direct influence in somebody’s life. Feels great isn’t it?
Having in mind that Wayuu tribe lives within matriarchal society we also wanted to use this opportunity to wish you Happy Women’s Day, no matter in which part of the world you currently live.
